Q1- Did you always wanted to opt for Civil Services?
Answer – It was a dream from childhood, mainly instituted by my father. Even till 12th I was not knowing the job profile, what I need to study. Whenever someone ask me about my career, what you want to become, my answer would be Police officer, even my first preference was Odisha Police Service (OPS) in Odisha Civil Service. But due to my poor eyesight I got couldn’t got OPS and got OAS?
Q2- What are the things you like to do when you get some free time?
Answer – In free time I love to read and wrote short stories and poems. Majorly on the themes on nature, life experiences and social issues. During my preparation days I frequently send my write ups in different online publications. Also I love to cook a lot, especially authentic Odia dishes.
Q3- Can you please share about your journey of becoming an OAS officer?
Answer – After my graduation in 2017, I went to Delhi and joined UPSC coaching and stayed there for one year. As my background was completely different from humanities subject and I had no guidance there. I came to Odisha in 2018 and gave my first attempt in OPSC and got my prelims cleared, but not prepared for the mains at all. I gave that attempt with all my efforts but couldn’t clear it just by 70 marks. Then the second attempt was during Covid time. I was fully prepared but I failed again in mains, but it was shocking. Then during the third attempt I cleared with Rank 64 in the Odisha Civil Service exam and got Odisha Administrative Service (OAS).
Q4- What was your strategy and preparations for the Odisha Civil Service exam?
Answer – On an average I use to study seven hours a day, but that was not constant, some day I used to read two-three hours a day and in some day ten-eleven hours. But I always made a plan and tried to meet the targets daily, without that I was not getting into sleep. I used to prefer to read during the early morning and whatever I read I used to revise on weekly and monthly basis. Newspaper reading is must, without that my day would be incomplete. I stick to only one source for one subject and revise that multiple times. I used to set realistic targets, that do not overburdened me and I use to give more focus on current affairs.
Q5- Would you please like to share any message or tips to aspirants or the readers?
Answer – If you think you can do it and dream it, then listen to nobody, you can definitely do it. Never ever give up on your dream.
