Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has appointed K. J. Patel as its new Managing Director, marking a significant leadership transition within one of India’s largest cooperative organizations. The announcement was made by IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani, who welcomed Patel, praising his extensive industry expertise and strategic vision.
Patel, who previously held the position of Director (Technical) at IFFCO, brings over 32 years of experience in the fertilizer sector. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Saurashtra University, Patel has played a pivotal role in the maintenance and operations of both nitrogenous and phosphatic fertilizer plants across the country.
He notably led IFFCO’s Paradeep Plant—the largest integrated fertilizer complex in India—where he earned accolades for promoting operational efficiency, innovation, and sustainability.
Chairman Sanghani expressed confidence in Patel’s leadership, stating that his in-depth knowledge of the industry and strategic approach align seamlessly with IFFCO’s vision. “We believe K. J. Patel will usher IFFCO into a new era of innovation and value creation,” he said.
Sanghani also extended heartfelt appreciation to outgoing Managing Director Dr. U. S. Awasthi, acknowledging his decades of dedicated service and remarkable contributions to both IFFCO and India’s farming community.
IFFCO recently reported strong financial performance, posting a 16% rise in net profit to Rs 2,823 crore for the previous fiscal year. The cooperative also registered a 4.5% increase in turnover, reaching ₹41,244 crore—driven by higher sales of both traditional fertilizers and next-generation products like nano liquid urea and nano liquid DAP. In FY 2023-24, IFFCO had recorded a net profit of ₹2,443 crore and turnover of Rs 39,474 crore.
