The first solar cycling track in India is now located in Hyderabad. The 23-km-long track, which has three lanes and produces 16 MW of solar power, is the second of its sort in the world after the solar rooftop-covered track in South Korea.Other solar bicycle routes are also being built in Switzerland and Dubai. The full track, known as Healthway, became 24/7 accessible on October 2. There are two lines that make up the system: the pink line, which runs 8.5 km from Nanakramguda to the Telangana State Police Academy (TSPA), and the blue line, which runs 14.5 km from Narsinghi hub to Kollur.
The track offers complete safety for bicycles with three designated lanes and protection on both sides. K.T. Rama Rao, the Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, emphasised the Hyderabad track’s distinctiveness in terms of its design and concept during its inauguration, setting it apart from other cycling tracks throughout the world.
The track has 5 entry points with parking, snack shops, and repair stations. It also has 16,000 solar panels producing 16 MW of power, which greatly lowers the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority’s (HMDA) electricity bills.
