Odisha CEO Deploys 20 Companies CAPF In Ganjam For Phase-V Polls

A commission led by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal has approved the deployment of twenty companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in the district for the May 20th fifth phase election in response to the violence that occurred during the polls in Khallikote, Ganjam. Dhal has directed the Ganjam District Election Officer and Collector not to employ these CAPF companies as Striking or Reserve Force.

According to a statement released by the CEO, the 20 CAPF companies will be stationed at various polling places around the eight assembly constituencies scheduled to vote on May 20 to ensure a seamless and tranquil election process. Following a fight between BJD and BJP supporters in the Srikrushna Saranpur village in Khalikote, there was a great deal of violence. The violence is said to have murdered a BJP worker.

In a similar vein, some other people who were admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital after suffering serious injuries in the collision. After the police arrested a few protestors, enraged villagers threw stones at them. Additionally, the attackers vandalized a police car. Following the violence, the district administration enforced prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC in a 100-meter radius around the Khallikote police station.
