Odisha CM Announces Major Hike In Freedom Fighters’ Pension

At today’s All India Freedom Fighters Day Festival, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi proposed a substantial increase in the monthly pensions of freedom fighters in recognition of their priceless sacrifices. The monthly pension for independence fighters who were imprisoned during the liberation movement has been raised from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 as part of the updated plan. The monthly payment for those who took part in the liberation movement but were not imprisoned has increased from Rs 9,000 to Rs 15,000.

Under the national pension plan for liberation fighters, the government has also increased the pension for recipients from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000. In addition, anyone who were detained during the Emergency under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) would now be eligible for a Rs 20,000 monthly stipend.

Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the government’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of Odisha’s freedom fighters, including those who laid down their lives for the nation’s independence. “Our government is dedicated to acknowledging their contributions and ensuring their legacy is preserved for future generations,” he said. The initiative underscores the Odisha government’s resolve to recognize and support the state’s freedom fighters, who played a crucial role in the country’s struggle for independence.
