Odisha Government Readies Strategy For Kharif Crop 2025

The Odisha government has created a comprehensive plan to assist farmers in advance of the Kharif crop season. The India Meteorological Department predicts that the state will have typical rainfall this year, which would help farmers.

About 58.5 lakh hectares of land should be planted with a variety of crops, including as cotton, maize, oilseeds, pulses, and rice, according to the Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment Department. The government has prepared plans to supply 4 lakh quintals of certified high-quality seeds, 9.55 lakh metric tons of fertilizer, irrigation coverage for 37.66 lakh hectares, crop protection and pesticide management, agricultural mechanization, and field demonstrations in order to guarantee a successful harvest.

The Amrit Anna Project for “Koth Bhog” and “Maha Prasad” for Shri Jagannath Temple, the Odisha Balabhadra Organic Farming project for 3450 hectares of organic agriculture, and the construction of 58 cold storage facilities for crop preservation are just a few of the initiatives the government has started. Entrepreneurs are receiving subsidies and financial support.

The government has given 1152 agricultural businesses a subsidy of Rs. 160 crore for the fiscal year 2024–2025. Digital services like as Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Agri Stack, Farmer Registry, and Input Support Amount are being promoted to farmers. For managing soil health, farmers would earn Rs. 3100 per quintal under the Samruddh Kisan Yojana. To help farmers, a corpus fund of Rs. 100 crore has been established. The state administration hopes to assist farmers throughout the Kharif crop season and increase agricultural production using these programs.
