The Odisha government has approved the construction of six-lane access-controlled highways with two-lane service roads on both sides of the Bhubaneswar-Puri Highway and Barbil-Chandikhole Road in an effort to guarantee commuters a smooth and traffic-free travel. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Regional Office has received a letter from the Works Department Special Secretary requesting that a detailed project report (DPR) be prepared for the two road projects.
The State Works Department’s Special Secretary, Laxmikant Padhi, notified the NHAI regional headquarters via letter that the state government had approved the two roads’ upgrades. In addition to asking the NHAI to draft a DPR for the construction of two-lane service roads on both sides of the Chandikhole Road-Barbil Road and the Bhubaneswar-Puri NH-316, Padhi has asked the NHAI to present to the Chief Secretary in order to finalize the alignment and controlled access locations.
In his letter, Paik also requested that the NHAI take the appropriate actions to carry out the project, which will give commuters traveling these routes a smooth and traffic-free ride. The action was taken in response to the NHAI’s proposal, which referenced the growing volume of traffic on certain routes, to build access-controlled highways with service roads.
