“Odisha Realtors Break Away from CREDAI, Launch ODFED”

A group of leading real estate developers in Odisha have announced their exit from the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) and formed a new organisation — the Odisha Developer’s Federation (ODFED). The announcement was made on Friday with the unveiling of the new body’s logo.

Pradipta Kumar Biswasroy, president of ODFED, said the federation is essentially a “reincarnation” of CREDAI Bhubaneswar Foundation and will act as a collaborative platform for developers to contribute to the growth of the state’s real estate sector. He stressed that ODFED will uphold ethical practices to build trust among property buyers.

According to Biswasroy, the split stemmed from dissatisfaction with CREDAI’s central leadership, particularly its reluctance to restrict membership to only RERA-registered builders. “Preference for retaining only RERA registered builders was our major demand. However, the CREDAI authorities didn’t pay any heed,” he noted.

The governing body of ODFED includes Umesh Patnaik as secretary, Suryakanta Nanda and Parthajeet Patnaik as vice-presidents, and Siddharth Mohapatra as treasurer. The federation aims to serve as a unified voice for developers, advocate policy reforms, and promote transparency and sustainability in the sector.

Meanwhile, CREDAI Odisha dismissed allegations of neglect. Chairman D.S. Tripathy said the central body had decided to merge CREDAI Bhubaneswar and CREDAI Bhubaneswar Foundation into a single city chapter, prompting some developers to form their own group. “Efforts were made to resolve the matter amicably, but a decision was taken to continue with one city chapter,” he clarified.
