Shantanu Banerjee, the chief of the TMC’s youth wing, has been interrogated numerous times since the ED conducted a raid on his home in the Hooghly district’s Balagarh neighbourhood in January. In connection with the bribe-for-job scam in the state school education department, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday arrested Shantanu Banerjee, a leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) youth wing, after questioning him for eight hours at the federal agency’s Kolkata office, according to ED officials. Banerjee has been interrogated numerous times since the ED conducted a raid on his home in the Hooghly district’s Balagarh neighbourhood in January. Authorities claimed that the raid resulted in the discovery of a list of 300 test takers for the teacher eligibility examination (TET).
On January 21, ED detained Kuntal Ghosh, a member of the TMC youth wing and a native of the Hooghly district. Currently, the Central Bureau of Investigation is in charge of him (CBI). Under the condition of anonymity, an ED employee claimed that Shantanu Banerjee was unable to identify the source of the money used to buy various properties. Banerjee used to set up meetings between potential employees and racket members, according to some of the other suspects who spoke with the ED.Shahid Imam, a former TMC leader, was detained by the CBI on February 17 on the grounds that he might have been one of the brokers who took money from job applicants. When the Left Front was in power, Hasan Imam ran unsuccessfully for the TMC in both assembly and Lok Sabha elections. He was the principal of a school in the Hooghly district, where the family’s home is in the Arambagh neighbourhood. Investigators were informed by Shahid Imam that he, too, had been hired as a teacher in the Howrah district in 2014.
