Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 25th edition of the Jahan-e-Khusrau event on Friday, where he extended his warm wishes for the month of Ramzan and celebrated the rich Sufi tradition as an essential part of India’s cultural heritage. Speaking at the event, which honors the renowned Sufi poet and scholar Amir Khusrau, Modi praised the pluralistic teachings of Sufi saints. He highlighted how these spiritual leaders not only recited verses from the Quran but also listened to the Vedas, promoting unity and understanding across diverse traditions.
The Prime Minister emphasized the unique identity the Sufi tradition has established in India and described the performances by Sufi artists as a representation of the shared heritage of the Indian people. Modi also recognized the profound contributions of legendary Sufi figures such as Nizamuddin Auliya, Rumi, Raskhan, and Khusrau, whose messages of love, harmony, and devotion continue to resonate. Notably, Raskhan, despite being born a Muslim, wrote devotional poetry dedicated to Lord Krishna, further exemplifying the inclusive and harmonious spirit of the Sufi tradition.
