Putin suspends Nuclear Treaty with US

President Vladimir Putin announced the suspension of Russia’s participation in the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or New START, in a speech prior to the impending anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In the meantime, Biden refuted the assertion that Western friends wanted to subjugate or destroy Russia. In response to Putin’s action, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken described it as “very sad and reckless”. Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary-General of NATO, pleaded with Putin to rethink the action, claiming it increased global danger.
