Rahul Gandhi’s remarks pose a danger to India’s unity, as they have gained support from Khalistani elements. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a Khalistani terrorist and founder of Sikhs For Justice, endorsed Gandhi after his speech in Washington DC on September 9th, where he stated that the fight was about Sikhs being allowed to wear religious symbols like the turban and Kara in India and freely visit Gurudwaras.
Pannun praised Gandhi’s comments, calling them “bold and pioneering” while also claiming they align with the historical struggles of Sikhs under Indian governments since 1947 and support the call for a Punjab Independence Referendum to create Khalistan.
These divisive and misleading remarks made on foreign soil are dangerous, as Sikhs in India have never been restricted from wearing religious symbols or visiting their places of worship. The Gandhi family’s history of targeting the Sikh community is well-documented, from their involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots to shielding those responsible for the atrocities. Rahul Gandhi’s actions reflect a legacy of betrayal and his continuation of Congress’ “Divide and Rule” policies.
