The Commissionerate of Police launched the mobile application ‘Sarai’ to receive information from hotels regarding their guests which will provide a secure and safe atmosphere for the citizens in the capital city.
According to the reports, before the hotels and lodges used to give such information through hard copy or email to nearest police stations and there were many non-submission of information earlier. But now the hotels, lodges and commercial guest houses can provide such information through the mobile app or its web version and the data will be kept centrally and monitoring will be easy.
Already more than 100 hotels have been enrolled in the app and one a training was also conducted by the Commissionerate of Police. The police are aiming to include around 800 hotels and lodges of Bhubaneswar in this app.
The report further added that there will be less intrusive police action on hotels for guest verification. And this will help police to provide citizens with a secure and safe atmosphere in Bhubaneswar. The information collected shall be kept confidential and shall not be shared with anyone respecting the privacy of guests.
