Ravi Kant, a 1998 batch IPS officer, is currently serving as the Resident Commissioner of Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi. He has had a distinguished career in the Indian Police Service, with over two decades of experience in various domains of policing and administration.
Kant, a native of Bihar, graduated from St. John’s College, Agra, before joining the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1998. He was allotted to the Uttar Pradesh cadre and served in various capacities in the state, including as Superintendent of Police in several districts. He was known for his proactive approach towards maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
Kant’s excellent track record in policing and administration earned him several accolades and recognitions.
He is a go-getter officer, wedded to the cause of commissioning projects on time. He enjoys immense confidence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik when it comes to articulating Odisha’s issues in the Delhi Darbar.
It may be noted that Kant was designated as Nodal Officer for safe and early return of stranded citizens of Odisha in Ukraine when the Russia-Ukraine conflict had reached its peak.
In 2019, Kant was appointed as the Resident Commissioner of Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi. In this role, he has been responsible for representing the state of Odisha in the national capital and promoting the state’s interests. He has been actively involved in promoting tourism, investment, and trade in Odisha and has been instrumental in organizing several events to showcase the state’s culture and heritage. Kant is the first appointee to the Special Resident Commissioner post at Odisha Bhawan.
