CM Hemant Soren claims that 36 lakh people have received pensions from his government, the majority of whom are above 60.Hemant Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand, made a significant announcement on Friday, stating that the government has lowered the age at which tribal and Dalit people are eligible for old-age pensions from 60 to 50 years.In the 20 years following Jharkhand’s creation in 2000, the chief minister claims that only 16 lakh people received pension benefits; yet, his government has paid pensions to 36 lakh people, the majority of whom are over 60.
“After they are 50 years old, the government has decided to give pension payments to tribal people and Dalits. “They have a high death rate and, even after 60 years, they still don’t have jobs,” Soren stated at a celebration held on Ranchi’s Morabadi field to commemorate four years of the state’s JMM-led government.
“…in our four years in office, we have provided pension benefits to 36 lakh individuals over 60, widows over the age of 18, and individuals with physical disabilities,” he continued.
