Bhubaneswar: The Income Tax department on Thursday launched raids and search operations on various premises of former Odisha MLA Sanatan Mahakud.
Mahakud was an independent MLA from the Champua constituency in the Keonjhar district.
According to reports, simultaneous IT raids are underway at Mahakud’s houses in Bhubaneswar, Keonjhar, and Joda.
Mahakud reportedly owns several buildings, including his residential house in the Shaidnagar area and a number of under-construction buildings. According to reports, raids are being conducted simultaneously at 10 locations in the state.
In Bhubaneswar, the I-T raid is being conducted by a 10-member team. The operation has been launched to detect alleged tax evasion by the former legislator. The premises of his personal assistant are also under the I-T department’s scanner.
