Atanu Bhowmick has been appointed as Director In-Charge of SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant

Atanu Bhowmick, currently Director In-Charge of SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), has taken on the additional responsibility of Director In-Charge of SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant (BSP).Atanu Bhowmick, currently Director In-Charge of SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), has been appointed Director In-Charge of SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant (BSP). With effect from June 2, 2023, he has assumed command of the position. Before taking over as Director In-charge of RSP on February 11, 2022, Atanu Bhowmick was Executive Director (Works) at Bokaro Steel Plant.

Bhowmick is a metallurgist who graduated from the National Institute of Technology in Rourkela. In 1988, he began working in the Blast Furnace Department at SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant. He worked there for 29 years in various capacities, studying the nuances of iron manufacture and eventually rising to the rank of Chief General Manager in 2016.Following that, Bhowmick was in charge of the Services section, and later, the RSP Projects Department. In October of this year, he was promoted to Executive Director (Works) at the Bokaro Steel Plant. Shri Bhowmick has launched a cultural shift in Bokaro Steel Plant, resulting in a more harmonic working environment, strong operational discipline, strategic technical interventions, and increased production, productivity, and profitability.
