Cashew nuts are sent from Odisha to Bangladesh

The first-ever shipment of cashew nuts from the State of Odisha to Bangladesh has been successfully facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), which is part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. This accomplishment is historic. Two metric tons of premium quality cashew nuts made up the consignment, which was exported by M/s Paaf Global Pvt. Limited. This historic move creates new opportunities for Odisha’s agriculture industry while also bolstering economic ties between the two countries.

The cashew nuts, which come from the well-known business “Passion Gourmet,” which is owned and operated by a vibrant Odisha woman entrepreneur, represent a fusion of empowerment and quality. This program is especially important since it supports the larger goals of encouraging women-owned enterprises and stimulating regional economic growth. In the conference hall of IDCO, Bhubaneswar, APEDA and the Government of Odisha have organized an Export-Oriented Capacity Development Program to commemorate this momentous occasion and National Cashew Day on November 23, 2023.

The goal of this program is to encourage Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) and Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) to enter the agricultural export market by raising their level of awareness. The initiative seeks to maximize farmers’ income by removing middlemen from the supply chain by encouraging them to become exporters.
