As ace double shuttlers Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto earned a spot in the Women’s Doubles Final at the JN Indoor Stadium, the Odisha Masters 2023 saw exciting matches. The Indian duo squared off against Arlya Nabila Thesa Munggaran and Agnia Sri Rahayu of Indonesia in a fierce Women’s Doubles semifinal match. Ashwini-Tanisha fought hard in the opening set, leading 11-8 at the break. The Indian pair showed tenacity and prevailed 21–17 to win the opening set.
They were still in complete control of the second set, leading 11-8 at the break, continuing their outstanding performance. Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto won the second set 21–13 thanks to a strong display of skill, guaranteeing their spot in the women’s doubles final. In other noteworthy matches of the day, Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila defeated Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch of Denmark in the Mixed Doubles division.
The Indian pair won the opening set convincingly, 21–14, displaying both aggression and confidence. They carried over their success into the second set, winning 21–14 to advance to the Mixed Doubles Final. In the Men’s Singles division, Satish Kumar Karunakaran defeated reigning champion Kiran George in straight games with scores of 21-18 and 21-14. Ayush Shetty lost the first set but rallied to win the next two, 21-14 and 22-20, to book his place in the Final.
