Orissa High Court Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh officially opened the Legal Aid Defence Counsel System offices throughout ten districts.
The offices in Bargarh, Bhadrak, Boudh, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapara, Nabarangpur, Puri, and Sonepur were virtually opened by Chief Justice Singh, the patron-in-chief of the Odisha State Legal Services Authority (OSLSA), from “Aain Seva Bhawan” in Cuttack.
Speaking at the event, he emphasized the importance of Legal Aid Defense Counsels in protecting the fundamental rights and constitutional rights of UTPs and convicted individuals. Additionally, he urged the Legal Aid Defense Counsels to take action in the best interests of the prisoners overall.
Present were Judges of the High Court, District Judges from thirty districts, and Judicial Officers, along with Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, Executive Chairman of the OSLSA. Through virtual participation, the bar associations of the ten districts where LADCS offices were opened also took part in the event.
