Trinidad – Pakistan’s batting crumbled to a dismal 92 all out in the third and final ODI against West Indies on Tuesday, as the hosts stormed to a 202-run victory and a 2-1 series triumph — their first bilateral ODI series win against Pakistan at home since 1988 and their first overall since 1991.
Chasing 295 at the Queen’s Park Oval, Pakistan never found their footing. Five batters, including Mohammad Rizwan, Hasan Ali, and Abrar Ahmed, were dismissed without scoring, while skipper Babar Azam managed only nine runs, extending his century drought to 72 international innings. Only Salman Ali Agha showed resistance with 30 runs before the inevitable collapse.
Jayden Seales spearheaded the West Indies attack with a stunning 6/18 in 7.2 overs, while Gudakesh Motie and Roston Chase added crucial breakthroughs. The Caribbean side needed just 29.2 overs to bundle Pakistan out, sealing a memorable win.
Earlier, West Indies captain Shai Hope anchored the innings with an unbeaten 120 off 125 balls, hitting 10 fours and 5 sixes. Justin Greaves added a late flourish with a brisk 43 off 24 balls, lifting the hosts to 294/6.
For head coach Daren Sammy, the victory comes as a welcome relief after recent series losses in both T20Is and Tests. Speaking after the match, Hope praised his team’s complete performance and highlighted Seales’ quality and preparation.
“This was about setting the tone early and finishing strong. We’ve been creating history over the past few years, and this is another proud moment,” Hope said.
