A record number of cases of COVID 19 are being reported daily in the country. For the past several days, more than 300,000 new cases have been reported every day. Vaccination campaigns are also being intensified to combat the epidemic. Meanwhile, Bharat Biotech, a manufacturer of corona vaccine, Covaxin, has set a price for the next phase of vaccination. The rates vary from state to state and to private hospitals for each dose of Covaxin. The state government will get a Rs 600 per dose of vaccine and a private hospital Rs 1,200. Similarly, the central government will get a dose of Rs 150.
The next phase of vaccination in the country is set to begin on May 1. At this stage, people over the age of 18 will be vaccinated. But the cost of vaccines has been kept separate. “We have announced the price of covaxin following the orders of the Government of India,” Bharat biotech said on vaccine price. The state government will have to pay Rs 600 per dose, while private hospitals will have to pay Rs 1,200.
Notably, the Vaccine Covishield rate was previously set by the Serum Institute. Compared to Covishield, Bharat Biotech’s vaccine Covaxin is expensive. Covishield costs Rs 600 for a private hospital and Rs 400 for a state. However, the cost of Covaxin is Rs 1,200 per private hospital and Rs 600 per dose for the state.
