Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, during the 78th Himachal Day celebrations in the remote Killar region of Pangi Valley, disbursed a total of ₹86.67 lakh to 1,926 women under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana. Each beneficiary received ₹4,500 for the months of April, May, and June.
Addressing the gathering, the CM announced that all remaining eligible women in Pangi Valley would be included in the scheme after completion of necessary formalities. He also stated that women turning 21 between January 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, as well as domestic helpers, would be eligible to receive the monthly assistance of ₹1,500.
In a series of major development announcements, Sukhu declared Pangi sub-division as Himachal Pradesh’s first Natural Farming Sub-Division and sanctioned a ₹5 crore revolving fund to support the initiative. He also declared a minimum support price of ₹60 per kg for naturally grown barley and revealed plans for a milk processing plant with a capacity of 10,000 litres in the region.
To strengthen infrastructure, the Chief Minister unveiled multiple power and transportation initiatives. These include ₹62 crore worth of power supply projects, ₹5 crore for an 11 KV line from Tindi to Shaur, and ₹45.50 crore for a 33 KV line from Thirot to Killar. For improved connectivity, 20 new bus permits were announced, alongside a 40% subsidy on bus purchases and a four-month road tax exemption.
In the education and healthcare sectors, Sukhu announced the opening of a Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School in Pangi and the upgradation of the Civil Hospital in Killar into an Adarsh Swasthya Sansthan.
The Himachal Day event highlighted the government’s commitment to uplifting remote and tribal regions, with a focus on women’s welfare, sustainable agriculture, and infrastructure development.
