Manish Kothari, a chartered accountant who worked for Trinamool Congress (TMC) politician Anubrata Mondal, was detained on Tuesday evening in connection with the West Bengal cattle smuggling case, according to ED officials.Kothari, according to ED, assisted the senior TMC leader in stealing money via front firms. He was legally detained when various inconsistencies in his testimonies were discovered, according to an official. According to the official, Anubrata Mondal’s daughter Sukanya has also been called to the agency’s Delhi office for questioning on Wednesday. Last year, Sukanya Mondal received two summonses to Delhi. She admitted to ED that she had no knowledge of the real estate or financial dealings connected to her and her father. Sukanya Mondol, who was recruited by the state government as a primary school teacher in 2011 when the TMC first took office, is the director of two businesses and the owner of a rice mill in Bolpur, where the Mondals reside.
