On January 31, the Varanasi court decided that the Hindu side could pray in the “Vyas Tehkhana,” the Gyanvapi mosque’s southern cellar. The appeal filed by the Gyanvapi Mosque committee against the Varanasi district court’s ruling to hold prayers in a cellar within the Gyanvapi mosque complex was denied by the Allahabad high court on Monday. The verdict was delivered by Allahabad High Court Judge Rohit Ranjan Agarwal.
The district judge’s decision from January 17, 2024, designating DM, Varanasi as the property’s receiver, and the district court’s order from January 31, 2024, allowing Puja in the case, were both upheld by the court after reviewing all of the case’s records and taking the parties’ arguments into consideration.
Advocate Prabhash praised the decision, calling it a “huge victory of the Sanatana Dharma.” The Muslim side filed pleas in opposition to the District Judge’s order, but the judge rejected them. This indicates that the pooja will go on exactly as it is. The District Magistrate will remain in her role as the “Tehkhana” Receiver
