The Orissa High Court has directed to issue toll free numbers for food safety complaints under the implementation of the National Food Security Act and also directed to make the toll free number available on the official website of Odisha State Food Commission by September 1.
As per the reports, all district collectors have been directed to form a committee for the implementation of the Food Security Act and the committees have been formed in Ganjam, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara and Sambalpur districts. More committees will be formed in the other 25 districts by November 1.
Earlier, the court had expressed dissatisfaction over the fact that the previous order had not been implemented across the state. It is to be noted that the Orissa high court passed the order after hearing the writ petition filed by Odisha State Legal Services Authority and the next hearing of the case is slated to take place on November 8.
