Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee never seemed to care about Sandeshkhali, according to BJP president J P Nadda, who also said that women are not protected in Bengal. At consecutive Lok Sabha campaign rallies on Sunday in the districts of Murshidabad and Nadia, J P Nadda, national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accused the Mamata Banerjee administration in West Bengal of believing in appeasement and dividing people on the basis of religion.
He addressed Sandeshkhali in the North 24 Parganas district at both rallies. The area has been in the news since February due to accusations made by local farmers of land grabbing and sexual assault against Trinamool Congress (TMC) panchayat leaders, led by Sheikh Shahjahan. Sheikh Shahjahan was detained and turned over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the orders of the Calcutta high court.
“In Bengal, women are not safe. Sandeshkhali is evidence of that. Sandeshkhali never appeared to upset Mamata Banerjee. Sheikh Shahjahan was not the target of her actions. Workers at TMC took normal people’s land and stole it. Nadda stated, “After all these years, nothing was done.Nadda claimed that Banerjee is against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which was implemented nationwide in March, in order to placate Muslims.
Mamata Banerjee is against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to provide citizenship to Hindu and Dalit immigrants from Bangladesh. Nadda stated, “She is pacifying Muslims.”The government of Mamata Banerjee favours appeasement, division among the populace, and support for terrorism. However, when Pakistan attacks India, Modi Ji’s government responds appropriately by crossing the border, Nadda stated at the Berhampore constituency in the Murshidabad district. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the president of the Bengal Congress, has held the Berhampore seat since 1999. The Berhampore seat is up for election in the fourth phase on May 13. With Bengal’s largest Muslim population of 66.28%, the district was once thought to be a Congress stronghold. However, after the state’s 34-year Left Front rule ended in 2011, both the BJP and Banerjee’s TMC have gained strength there.
