Sam Pitroda also made the controversial claim that people in the Northeast resemble Chinese people. During an election rally on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi challenged MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, to sever ties with the Congress over Pitroda’s remarks, saying, “A close aide of Congress and biggest adviser of ‘Prince’ (Rahul Gandhi), what he said is very shameful. Congress feels that people of Northeast look like Chinese. Can a country accept such things? Congress feels that people in South India look like Africans. I want to ask the Congress chief ministers of Karnataka and Telangana, can they accept such opinions?”
“I want to know if the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, who is always talking about the state’s culture, has the courage to say that the DMK will sever ties with the Congress in order to uphold Tamil people’s right to self-respect?… Congress believes that Westerners resemble Arabs. I would like to know if the people of Maharashtra will accept this, and I would like to ask the “fake Shiv Sena chief” about Balasaheb Thackeray.”Congress is currently uttering racist remarks,” he continued.
“Aside from a few occasional fights, we had lived for 75 years in a pretty contented environment where people could live along. We could keep together a nation as diverse as India. People in the north appear to be maybe white, people in the east resemble Chinese, people in the west resemble Arabs, and those in the south resemble Africans. It is irrelevant. We are all sisters and brothers. We honour variations in cuisine, languages, beliefs, and customs,” he declared.
