The farmer’s protest regarding the new Farm Bills has U-turn as the Union Government has proposed that the three contentious agricultural laws be suspended for 1.5 to 2 years.
Along with the suspension, the Union Government has urged the farmer unions to postpone their agitation till the suspended time that is for 1.5 years to 2 years. The proposal was made during the 10th round of talks between the representatives of the Centre and protesting farmer’s union leaders.

But the farmers still want a complete abolition of the three contentious agricultural laws and that the mere suspension of the three laws for a while will not change anything in the future. The farmers are still against the three Farm laws and the proposal by the Union Government for suspending the laws for a constitutive period will not bring any permanent solution in the future. The farmers are still in agitation for the abolition of the three laws.
As per the reports, the next meeting is scheduled for 22nd January. “I am happy that farmer unions have taken our proposal seriously and said that they would consider it tomorrow and consider their decision on January 22. I feel that the talks are progressing in the right direction and there is a possibility of finding a resolution soon,” Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Agriculture Minister stated.
As of now the Supreme Court has stayed the implementation of the laws and formed a panel to find a solution to the impasse.
