On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on his maiden international trip as he takes office for a third term in a row.The White House announced on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden would likely meet off the G7 Summit in Italy.US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated, “He (Biden) expects to see Prime Minister Modi here,” in remarks to media regarding Biden’s trip to Italy. Although the Indians have the last say to officially confirm his participation, we anticipate that the two of them will cross paths.”
“The nature of that encounter is still fluid because so much of the schedule is fluid,” he stated.Sullivan added that Biden congratulated Modi on winning another term as prime minister in a conversation with him. “President Biden actually spoke with President Modi by phone while we were in Paris to congratulate him on the election outcome and on being named Prime Minister for a third term,” he stated.The COP28 Summit in Abu Dhabi last year marked the leaders’ most recent encounter.
Foreign secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra stated that PM Modi will be visiting Italy on Thursday as part of his first overseas journey following his election to a third straight term in power. India has been invited by Italy as an Outreach Country to the G7 Summit on June 14. From June 13 to June 15, the 50th G7 Summit will be held at the Borgo Egnazia resort in the Apulia region of Italy. India will attend the G7 Summit for the eleventh time, and Modi will attend for the fifth time in a row.
