The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Monday cancelled 16 industrial plot allotments after an inquiry uncovered irregularities in the Industrial and Toy Park schemes in Sectors 29 and 33.
The probe found that several members from the same families secured multiple plots by creating different companies, a clear violation of scheme guidelines. “In many cases, husbands, wives, and sons floated multiple companies to obtain more than one allotment,” said YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh.
Launched during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the scheme had offered 855 plots — 712 for the Industrial Park in Sector 29 and 143 for the Toy Park in Sector 33. YEIDA had received 2,785 applications, of which 2,290 were deemed eligible. A draw held on October 9, 2020, selected 700 successful applicants.
However, complaints soon emerged regarding multiple allotments within the same families. Investigations revealed that some applicants, despite lacking mandatory documents, were included in the draw based on verbal instructions, Singh noted.
To prevent misuse, allotment letters clearly stated that only one plot per family — defined as spouse and dependents — would be permitted, and any violation would result in cancellation. Following complaints, a committee led by the additional CEO reviewed 43 allotments. Legal consultations with a senior advocate and a law firm confirmed that 28 allotments were linked to 10 families. Of these, 16 allotments were found to have violated the rules and have now been cancelled.
“The deposited amount will be refunded to the affected allottees after deducting 20%,” Singh added.
