The stripes are saffron, white and green, and the woman from the armed forces earned it through sheer hard work, focus and a dream to serve her nation. It wasn’t easy, neither was it difficult, but she took it upon herself to define her career and earn her stripes.
From a young age, the armed forces enamoured her, and she brought together a dream in her head – to build a career that would make her serve her motherland.
It all started when she saw the mortal remains of soldiers during the Kargil War. The respect and salute that each soldier received moved her; making her realise the difference between work and devotion. And she wanted to be devoted to the nation she loved!
After years of training in the NDA, her first posting was in the then-volatile area of Kashmir. She was in the firing line, getting battled hardened as her battalion took charge of the border areas and sealed them with safety.
Her experiences across the North East, Bangladesh, Myanmar and the borders of Pakistan made her realise the expanse of the country and why it needs to be protected from hardliners and infiltrators.
Over the past decade, she has moved through the ranks, beating her naysayers with relentless efforts in the armed forces, and living up to her duty of safeguarding the citizens and her Motherland.
She earns her stripes every single day, adding stars to her uniform that she wears with pride, upping her responsibility to the country that she loves.
She earns her stripes and continues to stay loyal to every piece that weaves the fabric of this beautiful nation.
