The sudden death of actor Shefali Jariwala at the age of 42 has left the film industry and her fans in deep shock. In a recent interview with Vivek Lalwani, Shefali’s close friend and fellow actor Pooja Ghai opened up about the heartbreaking final moments and the events leading up to her passing.
According to Pooja, Shefali was extremely health-conscious and took great care of her physical well-being. “She was always eating right and staying fit. It wasn’t something she had to force—it was just who she was,” Pooja said.
On the night before her death, Shefali reportedly had a regular dinner following a peaceful Satyanarayan puja at her home. “The house was still beautifully decorated when we brought her body back for the last rites,” Pooja shared.
She recounted that Shefali had asked her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, to take their pet dog for a walk after dinner. “While Parag was downstairs, their domestic help called and said, ‘Didi ki tabiyat theek nahi hai (Shefali is not feeling well).’ When Parag returned, he found her unresponsive. Her pulse was still present, but her eyes weren’t opening. Her body felt lifeless,” Pooja said.
Parag immediately rushed her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
There has been speculation regarding Shefali’s use of IV drips. Pooja confirmed that Shefali occasionally took Vitamin C IV drips and had done so on the night of her death. However, she clarified that such treatments are common, especially in places like Dubai, and stressed that they are not inherently unsafe.
She also shared a deeply emotional account of supporting Shefali’s mother that night. “She was in terrible pain and complained of chest discomfort. I had to talk to the doctor, give her medicines, and stayed until she fell asleep,” Pooja recalled.
Cause of Death Still Under Investigation
While early reports suggested cardiac arrest, the exact cause of Shefali’s death will be confirmed following a post-mortem. Police have ruled out foul play, treating the incident as a case of accidental death. Preliminary investigations point to a sudden drop in blood pressure as a possible cause.
Tributes have poured in from across the entertainment industry. Celebrities like Mika Singh, Himanshi Khurana, and Rashami Desai have shared heartfelt messages remembering the “Kaanta Laga” star, who left a lasting impact on fans through her performances and vibrant personality.
