Calcutta HC directs the CBI to look into a new alleged job fraud involving civic organisations

Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay ordered the CBI to investigate the bribe-for-job scandal in the education department in May 2022, which has so far resulted in the detention of three Trinamool Congress (TMC) lawmakers.According to attorneys present at the hearing, the Calcutta high court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to look into the likelihood of anomalies in the recruiting process at numerous civic organisations throughout West Bengal.”During a hearing about a purported education department scam, the judge issued the ruling. Attorney Firdous Samim, who is assisting victims of the alleged school recruiting scam, stated in a report submitted to the court by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that papers found during the continuing investigation “indicate that a similar scam took place in numerous civic bodies.”

Santanu Sen, a Rajya Sabha representative for the Trinamool Congress, declared: “We have the utmost respect for the judges. The judge is free to request CBI and ED investigations. But has he ever questioned these organisations as to why they have not detained BJP politician Suvendu Adhikari, who is charged in both the Saradha chit fund fraud and the Narada bribery case? These inquiries have been ongoing for a while.

BJP leaders praised the fresh investigation.According to Bengal BJP’s chief spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya, “every citizen of Bengal knows that corruption and TMC are synonymous.”
